Reviews
What Hunters Are Saying
"We have a large group of 15–18 hunters from Wisconsin that have been going on a late season hunt at Half Cocked Lodge for well over 10 years. Dave and his crew always put on an awesome hunt for our group. While we certainly enjoy knowing that we are going to have a great hunt, we love the Half Cocked Lodge accommodations because we can all stay in one place to enjoy meals and camaraderie with a fun group of friends. We will continue to head to Mina for our December hunt for as long as the good lord will allow us to do so!"

Planning Your Trip
What to Expect
Hunting Season
South Dakota pheasant season runs from mid-October through the end of January. Peak hunting typically occurs in October and November when bird populations are at their highest.
Group Size
We accommodate groups of all sizes — from small parties of 2–4 hunters to large corporate groups of 20+. Every package can be customized to fit your group's needs.
Licenses & Regulations
Hunters are responsible for obtaining a valid South Dakota non-resident small game license. We're happy to point you in the right direction if you need assistance.
Your Dogs Welcome
Want to bring your own bird dogs? No problem. Our heated kennels provide a comfortable stay for your four-legged hunting partners.
What to Bring
Bring your shotgun, blaze orange, hunting license, and weather-appropriate clothing. Shells are included with the Daily Hunting with Lodging and Weekend Hunt packages — all other hunters should plan to bring their own ammunition. A full packing checklist will be provided before your trip.
